Culture ID with Sensitivity testing provides information to your veterinarian about which pathogens are causing the infection, and which antimicrobials should be used to treat it.
The report provides images and a report identifying mites, yeast, bacteria (cocci and rods), white blood cells, red blood cells, and skin cells. A proprietary QSM test for the detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is run and the results are included with the cytology report.
The cytology and QSM Pseudomonas test results are reported to your veterinarian 1 business day after the sample arrives at the laboratory. Aerobic culture ID & sensitivity are automatically run when bacterial overgrowth is observed on cytology. Culture ID and Sensitivity results take 3-5 days to complete. Results are shared with the pet owner 72 hours after they are reported to the veterinarian.
